Newsletter #3: Tours & Announcements

An Island for All.
Hello everyone!

Happy Spring from Manresa! We hope everyone is enjoying the longer and sunnier days.
We have very exciting updates to share!

As an early step in the site cleanup process, we are working hard to schedule the removal of the oil tanks on Manresa. These oil tanks used to hold over 21M gallons of oil, within a stone’s throw of the Long Island Sound. They were installed in the early 1970’s and we are so pleased to take them down after more than 50 years! We can’t wait to provide updates on this process!

In preparation for the oil tank removal we have been working closely with eDesign Dynamics, our ecological consultant, to ensure that osprey are not impacted and that they will have many places on Manresa to nest during the season.

We have had a lot of questions about starting up tours again, now that Spring is here! If you are interested in participating in a tour of Manresa, please fill out this form and we will get back to you with more information.

If you are not able to join a Spring tour, please visit our homepage to see a video, put together by Chris Moran, showcasing the beauty of Manresa Island and our plans to transform it.

Lastly, we will be meeting with the community again on May 8, 2025, between 6pm and 8pm, to talk about site and building programming. Please mark your calendars. The March 5th Community Engagement presentation can be found on our website.

Thank you so much for all the wonderful and kind support. We are so excited to make steps towards unlocking the 125-acre waterfront park for you!
